Signed A large gouache on illustration board pin-up painting by Al Moore likely used by Esquire Magazine in the late 1940s as a commissioned calendar image for print publication both as a gate-fold in their magazine and a calendar girl for a 12 month premium calendar. Al Moore succeeded Albert Varga as the pin-up artist at Esquire Magazine after Varga took the reigns from George Petty in 1940. Moore brought a more modern and loose interpretation of feminine beauty as seen in this "Splendor in the Grass" pin-up entanglement. More ViewsOptions |
