The vanaras fought with fang and nail; they fought with rocks and young trees they flung like lances at the enemy. At first, in the sheer joy of the resurrection of Rama and Lakshmana, Hanuman's monkeys killed thousands of demons. But the rakshasas came on and on at them, in wave after wave, fearless by nigh, ready to die.
